A stagecoach with a link to Silver Dollar City visits the Missouri State Capital last week.
Rick and Bev Hamby, current owners of the “Journey Stagecoach” made the trip with a group of Cowboys and young people from south central Missouri to Jefferson City and received Proclamations that were introduced and signed by Area State Representative Travis Rogers and State Senator Karla Eslinger. Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe also greeted the group.
The stagecoach, originally built in the 1800’s, was purchased in 1960 by the Herschend Family for their new theme park Silver Dollar City and was used into the 70’s before being retired and thought to be lost. Eventually, Rick Hamby found the stagecoach, bought it and refurbished it, and now uses it for events including Pen Pal Trips in the southwest U.S. during the Spring. The Stagecoach has also returned to Silver Dollar City and has been a part of the Fall Harvest Festival featuring Crafts and Pumpkins in the City and is scheduled to be there again this fall.
Pete Herschend and his wife Jan were in Jefferson City to be a part of the activities.
