Wheelchair Doesn’t Stop New Mexico Native from Flying Balloons

by: JonChristopher Collins

46-year-old Michael Glen is a hot air balloon pilot; this is his first year at Celebration in the Sky.

“I’ve flown in 30 states across the country, so I get to check another one off the list,” Glen said.

Glen is from Roswell New Mexico; his dad was into hot air balloons; he and his brother got into it as well. He is the first pilot in a wheelchair. “Just because something bad happens to you doesn’t mean it has to stop you.” Glen is paralyzed from the waist down.

He later explained how he rides in a hot air balloon as a wheelchair user.

“My balloon is 65,000 cubic feet.” He said there are taller balloons too.

Glen were interviewed on “Around the Table” on KHOZ Friday. The entire interview is online on the Around The Table Facebook Page.
