A person hunting for mushrooms in a wooded area in Branson has discovered skeletal remains which have been confirmed as human.
A press release issued by the Branson Police Department indicates the person came upon the remains Saturday evening in the wooded area near the intersection of Highway 248 and Gretna Road. Police Officers as well as the Taney County Coroner conducted a search of the area that extended through the day Sunday with the Coroner confirming the remains are human.
The release goes on to say that based on the current evidence, Branson Police do not believe this case is related to the one active missing person case they are investigating. Branson Police also believe that there is not continuing or ongoing threat to the community.
The Taney County Coroner assisted by area Law Enforcement Agencies will continue the investigation to identify the person who died and the cause of death.
