While only one name appeared on the ballot, there was a contested race for the Mayor’s Position in Forsyth as incumbent Kelly Dougherty edged out write-in candidate Robert Quillin to retain her position.
According to the results from the Taney County Clerk’s office. Dougherty garnered 110 votes while the write-in position on the ballot listed 98 votes cast, though the final report from the Clerk’s office does not list which name was written in.
Since Quillin missed the initial January deadline, he ran a write-in campaign and filed for certification to be considered on the ballot.
Dougherty was appointed Mayor of Forsyth in December of 2019 after Eddie Coleman resigned from the position and won the election to finish out the final year of his term in the rescheduled 2020 Municipal Elections last June.
