Water Rescue to Resume Today at James River in Christian County

by: Christina Randall, Ozarks First

Christian County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a water rescue at James River.

According to Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole, two kayakers went in near Delaware Point Sunday and the boat turned over. The two became separated and the man who made it to shore called the police. Cole also says one of the kayakers did not wear a life jacket. Deputies were able to locate the missing man’s phone.

Cole says about 4 to 5 rescue boats were deployed for the search. However, authorities had to call off the search just before 9 p.m. Sunday night.

Missouri State Highway Patrol is now heading up the search and Cole says the search will likely resume this morning.
