New Boil Order for Part of Water System in Baxter, Marion Counties

From: KTLO

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has issued a precautionary boil order for a portion of the Baxter-Marion Rural Water System.

The area impacted is for those customers west of the Oakland Community Center to Bull Shoals Lake.

The boil order is the result of a main break.

ADH says under the boil notice, impacted customers are advised the water may be unsafe for human consumption. Water used for drinking or food preparation should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use.

All ice cubes should be discarded. Only boiled water should be used for making ice.

The notice will be lifted by ADH when two sets of bacteriological samples indicate the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
