by: Scott McCaulley

A recap of Thursday Postseason High School Basketball:

A hot shooting Ellington Ball Club was too much for the Blue Eye Lady Bulldogs to overcome as they lost 68-58 in the semi-finals of the Class 2 State Tournament at Missouri State University Thursday. Though the Lady Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter, they could not overcome the 50% shooting from beyond the arc by Ellington. Blue Eye will play Scotland County in the 3rd Place Game this morning at 10:00 in a game that can be heard on 981 KCAX.

Meanwhile, the Harrison Lady Goblins were able to rally in the Arkansas 4A Quarterfinal Game against Star City, erasing a halftime deficit to win 62-57 and advance to play host Morrilton in the state Semi-finals Saturday morning at 10:00 in a game that will be broadcast on 94.9 KHOZ.

The season did end for the other area team in the 4A State Tournament as the Berryville Boys dropped a 61-58 contest to Magnolia.

In other action Thursday, in the 3A Girls Tournament at Clinton, Valley Springs beat Lamar 61-30 and move on to second round action Saturday against Mountain View. Today in the 3A Girls Tournament, Bergman takes on Hoxie in a 10:00 am start.

At the 1A Tournament at Greers Ferry, both Jasper and Western Grove lost their girls games to Clarendon (55-52), and Sacred Heart (74-63) respectively while on the boys side, Western Grove edged out Clarendon 61-59 to advance to Saturday’s second round against Nevada. Today in the 1A Tournament, the Kingston Girls take on Rural Special at 4:00.
