Friday Basketball Update: Blue Eye Takes Third, Bergman Moves On, C of O Drops NAIA Opener

A recap of Friday Postseason Basketball:

-The Blue Eye Lady Bulldogs rebound after Thursday’s semi-final loss in the Class 2 State Tournament to hold off Scotland County 59-52 to claim Third Place at Missouri State University’s Hammons Center. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an 11 point first quarter lead only to see the Lady Tigers go on a run, staying close, and cutting the lead all the way to one in the second half, but Blue Eye used timely shots and several defensive stops to hold on for the win. Avery Arnold scores 23 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs, who finish 25-6 for the season.

-One of the teams that beat Blue Eye this season is still alive in the Arkansas State High School Tournament as the Bergman Lady Panthers  roll to a 58-29 Hoxie in the 3A quarterfinals at Clinton. Bergman will play in the state semi-finals on Monday.

-The College of the Ozarks lose in the first round of the NAIA National Basketball Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska as they fall to Northwestern of Iowa 82-69. According to a release from College of the Ozarks, the Lady Bobcats fell behind early trailing by double digits most of the game before cutting the lead to eight in the fourth quarter before Northwestern put the game away. Jordan Wersinger scores 27 points to lead the Lady Bobcats, who finished the shortened season 8-2.
