Postseason Basketball: Harrison Advances, Late Ava Surge Sinks Forsyth District Title Hopes

Thursday’s High School Basketball Postseason Recap:

Missouri
In a back and forth contest, the Ava Lady Bears had the last momentum swing go there way as they erase a seven point fourth quarter deficit to run by the Forsyth Lady Panthers 55-47 to claim the Class 4 District Championship in Mountain Grove. It is the second straight District Runner-Up finish for the Lady Panthers.

Mountain Grove is also the site for tonight’s Class 4 Boys District Final between Hollister and Ava. 6:00 tip-off with the game to air live on 981 KCAX.

Also Thursday night, Nixa claims the area Class 6 District Girls Championship with edging out Ozarks 56-54.

Arkansas
The Harrison Lady Goblins clinch their spot in the 4A State Tournament winning their regional opener Thursday, rolling by host Ozark 47-23. The Lady Goblins will take on Pea Ridge in the Regional Semi-final this morning at 10:00 am with the game to air live on 94.9 KHOZ.

The Berryville Boys also advance to the State Tournament after beating the host Hillbillies in an opening round game 55-34 and now will play Morrilton in a semi-final game this evening.

In the 3A Tournament at Bergman, the Valley Springs Tigers lose in their first round contest to Cedarville 56-53 while the Lady Tigers turned the tables on Cedarville winning 48-38 to advance to today’s semi-final game against West Fork.

Several area teams advanced in the 1A Regional at Lead Hill. On the Girls Side, both Jasper and Western Grove secured big wins as the Lady Pirates rolled by Mulberry 50-19 and the Lady Warriors got a 64-30 win over County Line. In the Boys Tournament, the host Tigers edge out Ozark Catholic 46-44 while Deer did lose to County Line 55-49. Today’s girls semi-finals include Kingston vs. Jasper and Lead Hill taking on Western Grove while on the boys side, its Western Grove vs. County Line and Lead Hill taking on New School.
