Flood Watch in Effect for Parts of the Lakes Region Tonight, Sunday Morning

by: Scott McCaulley

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for parts of the Lakes Region tonight into Sunday morning as heavy rain from expected Showers and Thunderstorms could cause some flooding.

The watch is in effect for the Eastern Part of the Missouri Lakes Region including both Taney and Ozarks Counties which does include the immediate Branson area. Forecasters predict a possible inch to an inch and a half of rain generally south of a line from Branson to Ava in Douglas County, which is also in the Flood Watch area.

Although not under a watch currently, portions of North Central Arkansas could see an inch of rain or more as well between this evening and Sunday morning.

Low water crossings could get flooded and some creeks and streams could rise due to the heavy rain. Some strong to severe storms are possible as well with small hail being the biggest threat according to forecasters.
