A number of make-up games and added schedule games as well as District Tournament openers were on a busier than normal late February Saturday on the High School Basketball schedule.
The Branson Pirates finally held their Courtwarming Ceremony Saturday afternoon making up their games from earlier this week at Carthage with both schools playing less than 24 hours after their scheduled Friday games. The Boys rallied from a double digit first half deficit to defeat the Tigers 79-68. Kade Goodwin ends up with a big second half scoring 28 points to lead the Pirates, who also got double digit scoring efforts from Ethan Jones, Kyle Scharbrough, and Colton Cooper to secure the win.
In the Girls Game, the Lady Pirates led for most of the first three quarters but could not hold off a big fourth quarter run by the Lady Tigers in losing 52-38.
In other action, Galena takes the court for the first time in nearly enough and knocks off the State’s Top Class 2 Team Lakeland while Reeds Spring splits games at Aurora and the Blue Eye Girls are among those teams winning opening round District Games.
