Extreme Weather Presents Challenges for Emergency Personnel

by: Scott McCaulley

The extreme Weather Conditions have presented major challenges for Firefighters and other Emergency Responders in the region.

Western Taney County Fire Chief Chris Berndt talked about situations his department has encountered on Tuesday’s “Ozarks Now” Program on KRZK. Among them are several issues with people trying to jump start vehicles, including one Western assisted the Omaha Fire Department on where a somebody tried to jump start a tractor with a pick-up truck and the hood accidental getting shut on the truck causing sparks to fly which eventually caught a barn on fire.

Berndt said the snow plus extreme cold weather makes it more imperative for people to take safety precautions knowing it may take longer for First Responders to arrive on the scene.
