CAM Announces Food Distribution Plans with Extreme Weather, Schools Closed

Press Release from Christian Action Ministries

In order to protect the safety of our patrons, as well as our staff and volunteers, it has been Christian Action Ministries’ normal practice to close our Forsyth and Branson distribution locations when the local schools close due to weather conditions.  With the present stretch of icy weather, CAM was able to open only on Tuesday of this past week.  Weather predictions for next week look even worse.

To address this situation and the growing food needs of our neighbors, CAM – Branson will plan to be open beginning Tuesday, February 16 (as we are expecting significant snow Monday) and any other day that we can get our staff to the pantry.  Unfortunately, we will not have sufficient staff to open our Forsyth location. Bridge of Faith Community Church in Rockaway Beach picked up food for approximately 60 households Friday for a scheduled distribution Sunday. The River in Forsyth and New Visions in Taneyville are each scheduled to receive approximately the same amounts of food Tuesday for distribution at some time to be determined.  We will plan to open for drive-through distribution in Branson only by 10:00 am each day.  This service is intended to be offered to our neighbors in need of emergency food and will not be our usual distribution of food.

We pray for the safety and welfare of all our neighbors.  We know this presents a hardship for our neighbors in need and regret the inconvenience this weather event is causing.  We ask for everyone’s patience, understanding, and prayers as, together, we strive to get through this and point toward better weather conditions.
