Following revelations of charges filed against Missouri State Representative Tricia Derges, House Speaker Rob Vescovo asks her to resign.

Representative Derges, elected in 2020 to represent part of Christian County, faces a 20-count indictment from a grand jury. The indictment was unsealed Monday. The felony charges surround allegations of a stem cell fraud scheme, including prescribing prescription drugs to patients without seeing them herself and lying to federal agents.

In unsealing the charges Monday, it was stated by one of the officials that people holding themselves up to Public Office should expect to be held to a higher standard.

Stacie Bilyeu, Derges’ attorney, tells Ozarks First that it is not true that Derges abused her power because her alleged actions took place before she was a representative.

Her trial is scheduled to commence on March 22. However, Bilyeu said cases of this nature rarely proceed on the first date they are appointed.

Derges operates three medical clinics in the region including one in Branson.
