A Marion County woman, 23-year-old Meghan D. Cain of Flippin, is being held on a felony charge of aggravated assault following a shooting incident earlier this month.
According to the probable cause affidavit, officers from the Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call on the afternoon of Jan. 11 reporting a person had been shot at a residence along MC 7015.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers made contact with the victim who had suffered a gunshot to his leg.
The victim told officers Cain and a male companion came to his home, and he met them on the porch of the residence.
Cain’s male companion reportedly had a gun and struggled briefly with the victim. The victim said it was during the struggle that he was shot in the leg.
Deputies made contact with Cain at the home of her male companion. She reportedly admitted going to the victim’s home, and said she and her companion were both armed.
Cain said she was standing in the yard when the two men started fighting. She said she heard the gunshot and saw the victim fall to the ground.
Cain said after the gunshot, several people came out of the residence, and she pointed her weapon at them, saying to stop so no one else would get hurt.
During the course of the investigation, officers obtained a surveillance video from the residence. The video reportedly shows Cain reach behind her back in her waistband and retrieve a gun. She then walks toward the house with the weapon raised.
Cain’s bond was set at $50,000.
Online court documents do not indicate any charges having been filed against her male companion.
