While much of the Lakes and surrounding regions didn’t see much snowfall, several areas in the mountains of Northern Arkansas received up to seven inches of snow according to reports submitted to the National Weather Service.
The seven inch snow totals were reported in the Mount Judea and Lurton areas of southeastern Newton County. Other areas of Newton County including Compton, Deer, and Jasper received five to six inches of snow. Other areas received lesser amounts of snow with some reports of two to three inch snow accumulations coming from Kingston in Madison County and St. Joe in Searcy County.
In the Missouri Lakes Region, most of the snow amounts reported were in Barry County with an inch to an inch and a half of snow reported in areas around Cassville and Roaring River State Park.
Some light rain and/or snow flurries are possible today in the region before skies clear for the weekend though temperatures are expected to stay in the 30’s for afternoon highs.
