Three Lakes Area High Schools were in Holiday Basketball Tournament Final Round Action Thursday, including two matched-up against each other.
The finals of the Walnut Grove Tournament featured Hollister and Forsyth renewing their rivalry with the Tigers outlasting the Panthers 52-50 in overtime to take home the Championship of the Walnut Grove Tournament. Cole Jones led the Tigers with 21 points while Buck Sanders scored 17 for the Panthers. Hollister’s Josh Barlow was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player with Cole Jones and Garrett Snyder of Hollister along with Devin Raines and Buck Sanders for Forsyth being named to the All-Tournament Team. This continues the string of close games between the schools as three meetings last season, including one in the Walnut Grove Tournament, all went down to the final buzzer and all were won by Forsyth. The Tigers end that streak with Thursday’s win which raises their season record 12-1 for the season.
Meanwhile, the Blue Eye Lady Bulldogs won their second straight 5th Place Trophy at the Pink and White Lady Classic as they grab an overtime win over El Dorado Springs at Springfield Hillcrest High School 55-52.
