Holiday Tournaments: Branson Drops Opener at Blue and Gold

The Branson Pirates drop their opening game at the Greenwood Blue and Gold Basketball Tournament at Missouri State University’s JQH Arena Saturday to Skyline 68-41.

Neither team scored in the games first three minutes, but the Blue Division Fourth Seeded Tigers got on track in the final five minutes of the first quarter and rolled from there to remain undefeated while the Pirates fall to 3-4. Branson will play Purdy in the Consolation Round Monday at Greenwood at 12:00. That game can be heard on 981 FM KCAX.

Reeds Spring will play their opening round game in the Gold Division Monday at JQH Arena against Top Seed and host Greenwood.

In other action Saturday, both Forsyth and Hollister win their quarterfinal round games at the Walnut Grove Boys Tournament with the Panthers beating Sparta 76-42 while the Tigers upended Miller 48-42. Both teams will play next in semi-final round action on Tuesday.

At the Southwest Girls Tournament, Reeds Spring drops a 46-25 opening game to Marionville.
