Harrison Council to Consider Business License Relief at Final 2020 Meeting

by: Scott McCaulley

A proposal brought forth at last week’s Harrison City Committees Meeting will be considered by the full Harrison City Council tonight at their final Regular Meeting of 2020.

A lengthy discussion took place at last week’s meeting about giving businesses that ask for it relief from paying Businesses License Fees due to the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The discussion looked at several options with the discussion focusing on the best way to address it procedurally. The consensus was to bring a proposal to this week’s meeting with City Attorney Grant Ragland saying that it probably needs to be in the form of an Ordinance and needs to be fair for everyone.

Tonight’s meeting will also be the final meeting for three current Council Members. Ward 2 Council Member Linda Dewald and Ward 3’s Heath Kirkpatrick did not seek reelection while Ward 1 Councilman Chris Head was defeated in his bid for another term.

Tonight’s meeting will begin at 6:00 and is available for viewing on the City’s Facebook Page.
