The Stone County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a Homicide Investigation after a 27-year-old man was found dead.

Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader said a call came in around 4:45 p.m. on about an altercation between two men. The sheriff said one pulled a gun and shot the other, killing him. According to Rader, an eyewitness identified the suspect.

Rader says Stone County deputies negotiated with the suspect over the phone and the suspect then turned himself in at the Rapid Roberts in north Crane just before 9 p.m. Police are still working to recover the gun and car involved.

Currently, there have been no charges filed.
