Searcy County Building Included in Recent List of National Register of Historic Places

Written From Story by KTLO

The listing of 25 properties in eight counties to the National Register of Historic Places by the State Review Board of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program includes a local structure.

The Snowball Gymnasium is located on Searcy County Road 12, 1 mile west of Harvest Lane. It is described as a 1956 concrete-block gym. It is the last remaining building on the school campus.

In the 1970s, enrollment declined to approximately 30 students. This resulted in the consolidation with the Marshall School District; the Snowball school was then left abandoned.
