Weather Update: Drought Improves, Freeze Tonight, Warmer Temperatures Ahead

by: Scott McCaulley

Last week’s rainfall in the Ozarks helped but many areas of the Ozarks are still in Drought Conditions.

The Extreme Drought Conditions in some parts of the Lakes Area including Northern Stone and much of Barry County has been downgraded to just a Severe Drought while other portions of Barry County, Central Stone, and Extreme Northern Taney County are in either Moderate Drought or Abnormally Dry Conditions.

Southern Stone County and most of Taney County including the Branson Area have officially been removed from the Drought list due to last week’s rain.

Temperatures in the Region Sunday night into Monday morning will dip below freezing in some areas which has prompted a Freeze Warning for most of North Central and Northwest Arkansas.

No rain is in the forecast this week with temperatures expected to climb back into the 70’s for highs and mid 40’s for lows by midweek.
