Two Fatality Accidents Claim Lives of Forsyth, Everton Residents

Law Enforcement and Emergency Personnel work a pair of traffic accidents that claim a life in each crash.

A woman from Forsyth dies and two other people are injured when a SUV and pick-up truck collide on Highway 76 four miles east of Branson Thursday night. According to the report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:30 when the SUV driven by 39-year-old Tammy Shofner crossed the center line and struck the pick-up head-on. A passenger in the vehicle, 33-year-old Hope Shofner was taken to Cox Medical Center in Branson where she was pronounced dead just after 10:00. Tammy Shofner sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment while the driver of the pick-up, 23-year-old Jesse Luevano of Branson, escaped with only minor injuries. This is the 81st fatality in traffic crashes worked by Troop D of the MSHP in 2020.

Earlier in the day, a man from Everton dies in a traffic crash in rural Marion County. The Arkansas State Police reports the crash took place on State Highway 235 around 4:20 when a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Richard Sgarella tried to negotiate an uphill curve and eventually left the roadway and went down an embankment striking a fence and a tree. Sgarella was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield where he was later pronounced dead. This is the 444th Fatality in traffic accidents worked by the Arkansas State Police in 2020.
