College Conferences, Organizations Making Decisions on Fall Sports

by: Scott McCaulley

College Conferences and Organizations are making determinations on the status of their Fall Sports Seasons.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) set forth guidelines earlier this month with the plan to allow Fall Sports to take place, but start later with Practice scheduled for August 15 with Event Competition to begin on September 5 for all sports but Football, which will begin on September 12. College of the Ozarks along with Evangel University are among the regional NAIA Schools.

C of O is also a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association, which have adapted similar guidelines including start dates of August 15 for Practice and September 5 for Games and Events.

The Great Lakes Valley Conference, whose members include Drury and Southwest Baptist Universities, have postponed all Fall Sports until Spring except for Cross Country.

The Missouri Valley Conference has postponed the start of their Fall Sports with Soccer and Volleyball going to a Conference Only Schedule beginning on September 18. That decision does not include Football, which is still scheduled to start August 29 for the Bears but that is pending decisions by the Major D-1 Conferences including the Big 12. MSU is scheduled to play at Oklahoma to open the season.
