Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson signs an executive order requiring masks statewide. The order will take effect Monday, requiring every person in Arkansas to wear a face covering of the mouth and nose in all indoor and outdoor environments where there is exposure to non-household members and social distancing cannot be assured. Children under 10 years old are exempt from the order.
Hutchinson said the state’s rising cases, hospitalizations and deaths show that more needs to be done to combat the virus’ spread. He also said adults needs to set the right example for the state’s schoolchildren, many of whom will be required to wear masks when in-person classes resume next month.
