by: Scott McCaulley

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is kept busy working a trio of accidents, all involving motorcycles, Sunday afternoon in Eastern Taney County.

The first accident happened around 12:50 when 67-year-old when Bernard Markus of Sparta was driving his motorcycle southbound on Highway 125 in Protem when a northbound vehicle crossed the center line forcing Markus to take evasive action which resulted in him leaving the roadway and overturning. Markus sustained moderate injuries that were treated at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

Just 10 minutes later, a motorcycle slides off the road and overturns on Highway 160 west of Reuter resulting in moderate injuries for 47-year-old Shane Coker of Forsyth. Coker was also taken to Cox South in Springfield for treatment of his injuries.

Then around 1:40 on Highway 125 north of Protem, another accident results in a motorcycle overturning. 56-year-old Donald Hale of Springfield sustained moderate injuries in that accident and was also taken for treatment to Cox South Hospital.
