Shell Knob Man Dies in Saturday Evening Crash

A man is dead after a car vs. SUV crash in Shell Knob according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred Saturday evening around 7:30 when a sports utility vehicle driven by 67-year-old Gary Allison of Olathe, Kansas was making a left hand turn onto YY Highway when a car driven by 30-year-old Lawrence McKee of Shell Knob hit the SUV on the side. McKee’s Car then traveled off the left side of the road striking several trees and eventually ejecting the driver.

McKee, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Coroner Jim Fohn. Allsion, who as the surviving driver in the accident was required by law to be tested for alcohol, was not injured in the crash.

The fatality is the 45th worked by Missouri Highway Patrol Troop D in 2020.
