A Boone County woman, 48-year-old Heather Renee Vinson of Lead Hill, has been arrested in connection with an incident in which she allegedly struck another woman repeatedly with a tire iron.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a Boone County deputy was dispatched to the Lead Hill City Hall shortly before 6 on the evening of March 10 in reference to an assault. Dispatch advised a woman had been struck with a tire iron leaving her head split open.

The deputy found the victim holding a towel to the back of her head, with her neck, shirt, hands and the back of her head reportedly covered in blood. He noted the bleeding had stopped, and he observed a red, bruising mark on the victim’s collar bone. He also noted a bulge on the back of her head where she had been struck. He also observed a bruised red spot on the left side of the victim’s nose and an abrasion on her right forearm.

The victim told the deputy the alleged assault occurred when she and a male friend went to the residence of her former boyfriend, James O’Mara, to retrieve a cellphone. O’Mara’s age and address were not provided in online court documents. While O’Mara was not at home, a roommate contacted him to advise of the couple’s visit.

The victim said she and her male companion were waiting in the driveway when O’Mara and Vinson, identified as his current girlfriend, arrived.

The woman said O’Mara jumped out of his car, began yelling at her and told her to leave. She said she told him she only wanted to retrieve her cellphone.

The victim reported Vinson “came out of nowhere and struck her in the left collar bone with a tire iron.” She woman said her companion knocked the tire iron out of Vinson’s hand.

She said she pushed Vinson away and was attempting to hold her down, when O’Mara struck the victim in the face.

The victim’s companion pulled O’Mara way from her. At this point, she alleges O’Mara pulled a knife on her male companion.

The victim and her male companion attempted to retreat to their vehicle, but the woman says Vinson struck her twice again in the back of the head with the tire iron.

The couple left the property and drove to the Lead Hill City Hall seeking help. The victim was treated at the scene by EMS personnel, but she declined to be transported to the hospital.

O’Mara was located in South Lead Hill and arrested. He has been charged with third-degree assault. Law enforcement was unable to locate Vinson at that time. Online jail records indicate she was booked into the Boone County Detention Center April 21, with bond set at $15,000.
