A quick moving storm system through the Lakes Region this morning dropped brief heavy rain and winds in most of the region while several areas received more damage.
One of those areas was Green Forest, as a report by Law Enforcement to the National Weather Service office in Tulsa indicated heavy winds pushed power lines down blocking several roads including US Highway 62. Other reports submitted to the Fackbook Site “Green Forest News and Views” talked about major traffic tie-ups impacting traffic heading to work as well as school and also included a barn being destroyed north of town off of Highway 311 as well as some damage to the First Assembly of God Church.
Reports to the National Weather Service Office in Springfield included reports of half inch size hail in several areas of southwest Missouri including the Chestnut Ridge area near the Christian/Taney County Line.
A break in the weather is expected today with more storms possible in the region on Thursday.
