The Blue Eye Lady Bulldogs Basketball run the last four years have been special with four appearances in the District Title Game, three District Titles, and two Sectional Titles. The one that had eluded them was a Quarterfinal win and a trip to the Class 2 Final Four. Now that can be added to the list.
Blue Eye built an early lead and continued to use their pressure defense to defeat Mansfield 60-46 to advance to the semi-finals for the first time in Girls Basketball. Avery Arnold and Konner Patton each scored 17 for the Lady Bulldogs, who led by 22 points at one point before the Lady Lions put on a late surge to make the game a little closer.
Blue Eye, 27-4, will play Tipton in the State Semi-finals at Hammons Center at Missouri State on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Alpena Lady Leopards fall one game short of a Arkansas 1A State Championship Game berth as they are eliminated by Kirby in the Semi-finals at Hot Springs 67-33.
The Valley Springs Lady Tigers move on to the the 3A State Finals next week in Hot Springs after holding off Mayflower 46-43 in the Girls State Semi-finals in Charleston Saturday evening. The Lady Tigers will meet Mountain View for the fifth time this season in the title game next Friday afternoon at Noon. Mountain View won both regular season meetings but the Lady Tigers took home both District and Regional Game wins over their 3A-1 Conference Rival.
