C of O Teams Survive as High Seeds Fall at A.I.I. Tournament

by: Scott McCaulley

The Association of Independent Institutions Basketball Tournament at Lincoln College saw the higher seeds fall in five of the eight games played on Friday. Fortunately, two of the high seeds that didn’t fall were from College of the Ozarks.

The top seeded C of O Women handled Lincoln Christian 90-45 while the fourth seeded C of O Men pulled away from Fisher College 90-76 in their first round game.

For the C of O Men, special performances included the game high 34 points of Brandt Cochran while Aiden Stone grabbed 21 rebounds in the contest to go along with his 16 points for a double-double.

In the Women’s Game, Abby Oliver led four in double figures with 15 points.

The Lincoln College Men were the only other high seed to win as the third seeded Lynx knocked off Haskell.

For the rest of the field, eliminated were the top two seeds on the Men’s Side (Washington Adventist and Wilberforce) and seeds two through four on the Women’s Side (Lincoln College, Fisher, and Haskell) all fell to defeat.

The Women will match-up against Wilberforce at 1:00 Saturday while the Men take on Lincoln Christian at 8:15. The Men’s Game will be broadcast on 98.1/AM 1220 KCAX.
