After a lengthy discussion at Tuesday night’s Branson Board of Alderman, the Resolution to approve the Budget for 2020 was voted down on a vote of 4-2.
After the Resolution to approve the Budget was postponed after the last meeting, more information was provided at the meeting concerning expenditures and trying to knock down the projected operating loss of over $500,000 for this year. While new events have been booked into the Convention Center for this season since the last meeting, it still is not enough to offset the projected loss at this point, though Craig Liston, representing the Convention Center, said that they expect the final loss for the year to be less than the projected number.
After the resolution failed, City Administrator Stan Dobbins said that the City Finance Department and the Convention Center Staff would start the process over at getting a Budget put together.
