HS Basketball: Forsyth Rallies to Beat Hollister at District Tournament

by: Scott McCaulley

The matchups between Forsyth and Hollister in Boys Basketball this season have been very close with the Panthers winning the first two meetings by one and three points respectively. Tuesday night, the Panthers pulled out some late game magic to upend the Tigers 53-52 in the Class 3 District Tournament at Strafford.

The Tigers jumped out to a 16-point lead in the ballgame as they used a deliberate offense punctured with an occasional big play to get control of the game. The Panthers slowly worked their way back in the game cashing in on some Tiger mistakes to get the game moving at a faster pace.

The Tigers still had a nine-point lead with four minutes left but the Panthers outscored the Tigers 11-1 taking their first and only lead of the game with just over a minute left then held on for the win.

Forsyth advances to take on Strafford in the semi-finals on Thursday.
