A Gainesville man sought by Ozark County authorities has been taken into custody.

Ozark County Sheriff Darrin Reed says in a Facebook post 42-year-old Jason Laird was arrested Thursday morning in Taney County. Laird’s capture was the result of a joint operation between law enforcement in the two counties.

Laird is wanted on nine active warrants and ordered held without bond in three of them.

Allegations in the three cases including fleeing from officers on foot Jan. 19, stealing a car from Gainesville High School on Jan. 22 and breaking into a Gainesville residence and taking two pistols on Jan. 23.

Sheriff Reed posted Laird’s photo on Facebook on Jan. 24. The post indicated the Gainesville man was wanted by officers on six Ozark County active warrants, with “several other warrants pending.”

Reed’s post was shared 478 times, and a flurry of tips was received by officers over the last few weeks, but none has led to Laird’s arrest until Thursday.
