Car vs. Train Accident Kills a Barry County Woman

A woman from Barry County has died and two children in her car seriously injured after being hit by a train at a Railroad Crossing.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident happened just after 4:20 Wednesday afternoon when a car driven by  59-year-old Fransisca Perez Salas failed to yield at a Railroad Crossing in Purdy and was struck by a Missouri-Arkansas Railroad Locomotive.

Salas was pronounced dead at the scene while her two grandchildren that were passengers in the vehicle, ages 3 and 8, were airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield. No one on the train was injured.

This is the 13th Fatality Accident in Troop D so far in 2020.
