A man with charges filed against him in both Baxter and Marion counties has been declared a fugitive.
Thirty-one-year-old Jason Carl Proffitt is reported to have cut off an ankle monitor he had been ordered to wear.
In Marion County, Proffitt was convicted on 2015 charges of unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and aggravated assault after he had first been charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder. In a later case in 2019, Proffitt was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Meanwhile in another incident, a traffic stop by an Arkansas State Police Trooper of Proffitt in Mountain Home for having a license plate on his pickup truck belonging to a different vehicle led to the discovery of marijuana, methamphetamine, and other drug items in the vehicle.
The new charge in Baxter County caused a petition to be filed to revoke Proffitt’s bond in Marion County, and he was ordered to report to the Marion County jail at 9 a.m., Jan. 25 but did not show up there or at a scheduled appearance in Baxter County Court causing new warrants to be issued for his arrest.
