One of the items discussed and acted on at this past Tuesday’s Branson Board of Alderman Meeting was the working of agreements with Ballparks of America in regards to new ownership taken over.
Branson City Attorney Chris Lebeck explained that the group that owned the complex located at the previous Red Roof Mall location. Ballparks Branson, LLC had fallen behind in agreed payments to Cedar Rapids Bank and Trust from Iowa for financing to fund improvements at the facility. Since the previous group as defaulted on the load, the bank has been seeking out other groups that would like to take over the complex.
Lebeck says the City was contacted by a group out of Springfield, Ballparks of America, LLC that was working with the bank to take over the ownership of the facility.
The Board at Tuesday’s Meeting approved a Resolution allowing the group to take over the current lease as outlined in a previous agreement with the City as well as pass on both First and Second Reading an a tentative agreement for a new Lease with the City prior to the official closing on the property with the bank. The City also passed on First Reading a Bill that would have the City assist the new owners with Parking Lot and Landscaping renovations.
Springfield attorney Paul Satterwhite, representing the new ownership group, spoke at Tuesday’s meeting detailing some of the plans the new group planned to undertake including making more local use of the facilities available with possible expansion to other sports like Football and Soccer.
Satterwhite says despite the ownership, several tournaments are already scheduled for this year with several teams already committed to participate.
Satterwhite also told Alderman that his group will hire a national operator to run the facility.
