by: Scott McCaulley

A fire that is believed to have started due to a lightning strike during Friday’s Thunderstorms has destroyed a home in Taney County.

Chief Doug Bower of the Central Taney County Fire Protection District tells KY3.com that the owner of a home in Kissee Mills smelled smoke shortly after hearing a loud bang believed to have been a lightning strike on the home. The house went up in flames shortly afterward.

The homeowner was able to get out of the home and was not injured.
