Western Taney Firefighters Knock Down Natural Cover Fire Saturday Afternoon

by: Scott McCaulley

Western Taney County Fire District Personnel were called to Collins Road off of T Highway Saturday afternoon to contain a Natural Cover Fire.

According to a post from the Fire District’s Facebook Page, over 10 acres were involved when firefighters arrived just after 1:00. The District shared a post from one of the residents in that area that said a neighbor was Brush Hogging a field when the blade of his tractor hit a rock sparking the fire that spread quickly due to dry conditions and high winds.

The fire was brought under control and no surrounding structures or livestock were harmed.

Western Taney County Firefighters remind area residents that current conditions heighten the potential hazards for Brush Fires.
