City of Harrison Passes Water and Sewer Rate Increases for 2020

by: Scott McCaulley and Coleman Taylor

The Harrison City Council passed on all three readings last week Water and Sewer Rate increases for 2020.

At the Council Committee Meetings earlier this month, three separate increases were presented. The first is an increase of the Consumer Price Index, which has not been addressed since of August of 2017. The total of that increase will be 7.6%. Another increase comes from the Carroll-Boone Water district which recently announced an increase of twenty cents per thousand gallons being charged to the city of Harrison.  And finally, a half percent increase to eliminate credit card fees paid by customers who wish to pay their water bill using a credit card.

With the passage of the ordinance, minimum water and sewer will see an increase of approximately $2.05 per month.
