The body of a missing Kansas woman has been discovered in Newton County.Newton County Sheriff’s Investigator Mike Blocker says loggers discovered the body of 51-year-old Sherry Lynn Babcock of Potwin, Kansas, about 10 Monday morning in the Ponca area.
Blocker says the body was still in a condition to allow a positive identification.
He says there were no obvious signs pointing to a cause of death, and the case is not being investigated as foul play.
The body has been sent to the Arkansas Crime Laboratory.
On Nov. 27, Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said his office was assisting Kansas authorities in their efforts to locate Babcock.
Last week, a video was released showing the missing Kansas woman at the Buffalo Outdoor Center in Ponca.
Her unlocked car had been found abandoned in Ponca, along with her purse, money and credit cards inside. Babock’s body was located a few hundred yards from her abandoned vehicle. Investigator Blocker says the area was heavily wooded, up an incline and accessible by foot.
The discovery of the vehicle came the day after Babcock reportedly visited with friends in the Searcy area. She was last seen at home Nov. 16.
