The remains discovered Sunday near Roaring River State Park were identified Monday as that of a man missing since January.

According to the Cassville-Democrat, the remains have been identified as those of  Ritchie Vaughn Ellis of Wyandotte, Okla. Ellis was last seen on Jan. 21 and reported missing on Jan. 26 after his car was found on Missouri State Highway 112, southwest of Roaring River State Park.

According to reports at the time, Ellis sent a message to his employer in Joplin he would not be at work that day and was not heard from again. An extensive search of the area came up empty at the time of his disappearance.

Law Enforcement says an investigation of the site does not indicate any signs of foul play.
