A major pile-up on Interstate 44 in Strafford caused a major traffic back-up Thursday Evening.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the accident happened when a vehicle, disabled in the westbound passing lane due to a prior accident was struck by a vehicle which then pushed it into a vehicle driven by David Smith of Protem. Smith’s vehicle was then hit by another vehicle before colliding with the original vehicle that was stranded in place.
Smith was the only one of the drivers involved to escape without injury while the drivers of the other vehicles sustained various degrees of injuries and were taken to hospitals in Springfield for treatment.
