On a night where the College of the Ozarks honored one of their past standout Basketball Players, the current teams survived intense games with Highway 65 rival Evangel.

The Lady Bobcats, playing the Lady Crusaders for the first time since 2017, pulled away to a 12 point first half lead only to see the Lady Crusaders keep making runs, including closing the gap all the way down to one point in the second half but a quick 9-0 gave the Lady Bobcats some breathing room as they held on for a 60-56 win. Abby Oliver leads the Lady Bobcats with 12 points followed by Ashley Forrest’s 11 and Kyra Hardesty’s 10 points. Brianna Vogts scored 17 points for the Lady Crusaders to lead all scorers.

In the Men’s Game, the visiting Crusaders came out on fire an for much of the game, held the lead which got to 18 points with 11 minutes to go. But then the Bobcats exploded on a 27-4 run and eventually earned a 93-82 win behind the 32 points of Brandt Cochran, who scored all of his points in the second half as part as the team’s 68 second half points. Nate Davis had 22 points for Evangel.

Both C of O teams are 2-1 and will both be heading to the Tabor Classic in Kansas this weekend.

In between games, the C of O Women’s Program retired the jersey of Kelsie Cleeton, who graduated after last season and is the program’s all-time leader in assists and rebounds.
