City residents of Harrison begin heading to the polls today to vote on two sales tax increases that will fund the construction and future maintenance of a community center.

The proposed project includes the building of the center as well as several parkas and recreation upgrades including baseball field improvements and additional walking trails. A temporary .75% sales tax will pay for the $39.9 million bonds to build the community center and a permanent .25% tax will maintain the center.

Early voting runs from November 5th through November 11th with election day on November 12th.

Harrison Mayor Jerry Jackson gave his full support during an interview with Coleman Taylor on Bootz 94.9 FM and AM 900 KHOZ this morning.
