News Release – City of Branson

BRANSON, Mo – The Branson Police Department is reminding all Branson drivers that officers will be stepping up patrols and enforcement of area school zone speed limits and school bus safety violations starting next week as many area schools start back up.

Branson Schools start Wednesday, August 14, 2019, so students will be on sidewalks and roads and school buses will be making frequent stops.

“With local schools back in session, it’s imperative all drivers do their part to keep our students and roadways safe. Please remove in-car distractions, put your phone down, and slow down,” said Branson Police Chief, Jeff Matthews.

As part of its annual back to school routine the Branson Police Department, including School Resource Officers on all Branson campuses, will be focusing on all aspects of school and student safety.

Back to school driving reminders:

  • Obey all traffic laws including school zones
  • Watch for students in crosswalks (including school property)
  • Never pass a school bus loading or unloading students. It is illegal to pass a school bus displaying red flashing lights or a stop sign extended.

If you see a dangerous driver or observe driving violations, call 9-1-1 to report it.
