Reports to the National Weather Service office in Springfield show heavy weekend rains prompted road closures and several evacuations. Extreme southwest Missouri was hardest hit with heavy rains causing flash flooding in McDonald and Newton Counties. Several residents on the east side of Neosho were evacuated along Hickory Creek. Flash flooding on Beavers Creek led to emergency crews evacuating homes and businesses in the town of Anderson.
As storms pushed eastward, severe thunderstorm winds downed trees and powerlines in Douglas and Howell counties. Scattered power outages were also reported in a half dozen other southwest Missouri counties and in the city of Springfield.
