Man in Reeds Spring Repairs American Flags and Then Flies Them in Honor of Fallen Soldiers

John Bedore of Reeds Spring is making sure flags flying outside the New Testament Christian Church are looking their best.

“Right now I’m replacing worn and torn flags that we put up for about seven holidays out of the year, and we’re doing this one for Flag day,” he said Friday, June 14th. “We’ll leave them up through Monday, and then take them down.”

“Right now we’ve got a lot of worn and torn flags, about sixty-one of them that I’m trying to replace.”

Each one of the flags was donated by a member of the church. Each one represents a person who fought or died defending the country.

“What we do is, each member here can either donate a flag in honor of or memory of a loved one.  And it also lists a branch of service that they were in,” Bedore explained.

It’s a small gesture with a huge impact.

“We get a lot of people that will [drive by and] honk. And wave at us,” Bedore said. “I’ve had one lady stop, come up and gave me a hug.  I didn’t even know what her name was, but she came up and gave me a hug and said ‘thank you, for doing this.”
