Harrison Chamber Makes Funding Increase Proposal to City

by: Coleman Taylor

The Harrison City Council Finance Committee met last night and heard a funding request by the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Bob Largent.

The chamber has requested an annual contract with the city for $65,000 to increase economic development efforts for Boone County. This funding request is a substantial increase from past contracts with the city totaling $5000 a year. The chamber has also requested $35,000 from the Boone County Quorum Court.

Several chamber investors were present to voice their support.  Members of the community and city officials voiced both support and opposition to the plan. The committee voted to move the proposal to full council for discussion and vote at the next regularly scheduled council meeting on June 27th.
