Monday saw a number of postseason competitions in different sports.
In softball, Forsyth loses their opening round game in the Class 1 Softball Tournament dropping a 3-0 decision to Purdy at Bell Field.
The Lady Eagles, avenging an earlier loss to the Lady Panthers, scored two runs in the first inning which was more than enough to get the victory. After losing 16-1 earlier in the season to the Lady Panthers, the Lady Eagles pinned the only shutout of the season on the Lady Panthers.
In High School tennis, Reeds Spring loses in the first round of the Class 1 District at Springfield Catholic 5-1 to Summit. Summit’s next opponent today will be Forsyth, who as the second seed had a first round bye. Branson is the top seed in the Class 2 District at Springfield Kickapoo and will match-up against Nixa in the semi-finals this afternoon.
In High School Golf, two area Golfers move on to State after finishing their finish in the Sectional Tournaments. Dawson Sherer from Galena moves on in Class 1 while Ty Cooper from Reeds Spring advances in Class 3.
In Regular Season Baseball, Hollister edges Forsyth at the Forsyth Tournament 9-8 while Strafford beats Billings 15-0. The final games of the tournament are today with Forsyth playing Billings at 4:30 followed by Hollister against Strafford at 7:00. Both games can be heard on 981 FM/ AM 1220 KCAX. Also on the area schedule today, Branson hosts Carthage and Reeds Spring entertains Cassville.
